Westmoreland County Parks and Recreation invites people to hit the trail and try the luck of the draw on July 15, during the annual Five Star Trail Poker Run.

The event is not a race, and it doesn’t require poker-playing skill.

Participants may choose to complete a 4-mile walk or a 12-mile bike ride along the trail. At each of five checkpoints, they will choose a playing card from a deck, eventually assembling a full poker hand.

Those with the top three poker hands will receive a trophy and a prize package.

The run begins at 9 a.m. at Lynch Field in Greensburg, with registration starting at 8 a.m.

Registration costs $25 in advance, $30 on the day of the event. Call 724-830-3950 to receive a registration form.

The poker run also features a door prize, light refreshments, a 50-50 drawing and a display of past event T-shirts. Additional family-friendly activities are planned.
