Jeannette City School District will play host to a covid-19 vaccine clinic Thursday for older students, their families and other community members.
The clinic is set for 1 to 5 p.m. in the high school gym. Doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be administered by Hayden’s Pharmacy.
According to Superintendent Matt Jones, participation in the clinic is voluntary for the district’s 176 students who are age 16 or older.
Registration is required by visiting haydenspharmacy.com/covid-19-vaccine and selecting the May 13 clinic.
Signed parental consent forms additionally are required for students to receive the vaccine. The forms can be found on the district website at jeannetteschooldistrict.org and must be returned to the high school main office by Tuesday.
Jones believes this will be the first covid immunization clinic to be held with the Jeannette city limits. “A second clinic will be held in the same location within the required time frame to receive the second dose,” he said in a letter posted on the website.
District staff have had opportunities to be vaccinated at previous clinics held in the Greensburg area, he noted.
Jones said the district has experienced some “small outbreaks” of positive covid cases. On Friday, the district reported three cases among high school students and none among staff at any grade level.
