Two candidates for one seat on Scottdale council will find out Wednesday who wins.

Andy Pinsky and Cherri Rogers each received 132 votes in November’s general election. Lots will be cast at noon Wednesday at the Westmoreland County Courthouse.

The race is one of six that will be decided by random after the candidates were tied. In the past, numbered blue marbles have been selected after each candidate’s name was called in alphabetical order. The candidate who received the marble marked with No. 1 was declared the winner.

Candidates can appear at the casting of lots to select their own number or someone authorized by the county board of elections will do it for them.

Tied are:

• Jim Pochedly, Tim Previni and Amy Snyder all have one write-in vote for one seat on Hyde Park council. There were three seats available — Nathan A. Baker won one with 96 votes and Mary Ann Fondrk won a second with four write-in votes, according to unofficial returns.

• Kevin Ferree, Jason Meligari, Levi Rocco and Denise Sorrentino each have one write-in vote for a seat on Sutersville council.

• Alex Monticue and Carmel Piper each have two write-in votes for Cook auditor.

• Kurt Limbach and Devin O’Leary each have two write-in votes for Fairfield auditor.

• Joyce Ewing and Patrick Quinn each have two write-in votes for Upper Burrell auditor.

The county elections board precertified the election results Monday to open a five-day appeal period in which candidates could file court challenges to the results, including the county’s tally of write-in votes. A final certification will take place Nov. 27 at 4:15 p.m.
