Two people were reported injured Tuesday in a head-on collision that closed Donohoe Road in Unity Township for more than one hour.

The collision was reported at 9:18 a.m. along the 800 block of Donohoe Road, according to a Westmoreland County dispatch supervisor.

The two drivers were transported by Mutual Aid ambulances to Excela Health Westmoreland hospital in Greensburg, according to firefighters at the scene.

“Both drivers had self-extricated when we arrived and were taken to the hospital in separate ambulances,” said Lloydsville Volunteer Fire Department Capt. Jim Jellison.

In addition to Lloydsville, volunteer firefighters from Bovard and Crabtree responded.

The road remained closed for about an hour after the crash while firefighters waited for tow trucks and cleared the wreckage off the roadway.

State police in Greensburg were investigating, but no further information, including the identity of the drivers, was currently available.
