A traffic stop for a broken tail light resulted in the arrest of a 29-year-old man Thursday after Washington Township police seized nearly 5 pounds of marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms, Xanax pills and drug packaging material from his SUV.

Patrick C. Meanor, 29, of Worthville, Jefferson County, is charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance and single counts of possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of instruments of crime, conspiracy and driving on a suspended license.

Officer Ken Sebastian Jr. said a New Kensington woman, who was a passenger in Meanor’s vehicle, is expected to be charged.

Sebastian reported that he was on patrol at 3:42 a.m. at the intersection of North Washington Road and Route 66 when he noticed Meanor had a broken tail light.

According to court records, Sebastian said Meanor appeared to shield his face with his hands as he pulled south on Route 66 and Sebastian pulled him over for the equipment violation. A records check, Sebastian said, resulted in learning Meanor was driving on a suspended license for numerous traffic violations.

Sebastian said both Meanor and his passenger were acting nervous during the stop and a search of the vehicle resulted in the confiscation of the contraband, two cell phones, digital scales, marijuana smoking pipes and an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to court records, Meanor pleaded guilty in 2015 in Jefferson County to charges of manufacturing, delivery and possession of a controlled substance and was sentence to serve up to two years in jail and three years probation. He also pleaded guilty in 2010 in Indiana County to multiple counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and was sentenced to one year probation, according to court records.

Meanor was released Thursday on $10,000 unsecured bond.
