A 32-year-old man died at the scene of a two vehicle crash Tuesday on Route 422 in Summit Township, Butler County, state police said.

According to Butler County Deputy Chief Coroner John Hanovick, the victim was identified as Dominick Recupero of Kittanning, according to Tribune-Review news partner WTAE.

The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. in the area of Keck Road.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Randall Hawk, 37, of Kittanning was driving a Chevrolet Cobalt, traveling west on Route 422, and for unknown reasons went off the north side of the road, hit a guide rail, and then went across into the eastbound lane, where it was hit by a pickup.

Recupero, who was a passenger in the car and not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.

Hawk was also not wearing a seat belt, state police said.

Hawk was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

State police said Brooke Campbell, 22, of New Castle was driving a Dodge truck and said she was not injured in the collision.

The crash caused Route 422 to be closed in both directions between Keck and Geibel roads. It was reopened around 8:30 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
