PennDOT said it plans to reopen the northbound ramp from Route 28 to the Highland Park Bridge in Sharpsburg on Saturday afternoon, weather permitting.

The ramp, Highland Park Bridge/Aspinwall (Exit 6), has been closed since June 21.

Work done on the ramp included concrete and steel repairs, drainage upgrades, painting and other improvements. The work is part of a larger $12.2 million project to make improvements from the Etna Bypass to the Highland Park Bridge. The work, being done by Gulisek Construction LLC, began in May 2020.

Golden Triangle Construction is working on a nearly $50 million project to alleviate the traffic congestion issues near the bridge’s interchange and ramps in Aspinwall, Fox Chapel, Sharpsburg, O’Hara and Pittsburgh.

Drivers can sign up to receive Route 28 traffic advisories and construction updates by email. To enroll, send an email with “Subscribe –Route 28” in the subject line to stcowan@pa.gov.
