Less than 12 hours after a Harrison gas station was robbed at knifepoint, police have identified a suspect.
Chief Mike Klein said a warrant has been issued for Nicholas Dupree, 21, who is known to frequent Tarentum and the Natrona section of Harrison.
Dupree is accused of walking into the Sunoco in the 2600 block of Freeport Road around 11 p.m.
“The clerk was closing up, and (Dupree) came in with a knife and put it to the clerk’s throat,” Klein said.
Dupree ordered the clerk to take money from the register and put it in a bag, which he did, Klein said.
No injuries were reported.
Klein said Dupree faces charges of robbery, theft, simple assault, reckless endangerment and possession of an instrument of crime.
The Sunoco sits in a busy stretch of Freeport Road, but most nearby businesses were closed for the night.
Klein said Dupree wore a “covid-type mask” during the robbery, but police were able to identify him after viewing exterior surveillance videos where he removed the face covering.
“We anticipate catching up with him soon,” Klein said.
