Route 8 between Kittanning Street and Route 28 in Etna has reopened in both directions after being closed for several hours Monday afternoon following a crash in which two men were hospitalized.

Allegheny County dispatch said calls for the vehicle rollover came in about 2:30 p.m.

Etna police and firefighters responded to the scene. The southbound lanes reopened around 4:30 p.m.

The northbound lanes reopened around 6:30 p.m.

Allegheny County Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction and Homicide Unit are investigating the crash.

County Police said a Mercedes sedan struck a Dodge Ram pickup as it was turning right onto Kittanning Street from Route 8. Both vehicles were traveling northbound.

Police said the drivers were both taken to area hospitals in serious but stable condition. There were no other occupants in the vehicles.

Anyone with information about the crash should contact the County Police Tip Line 833-ALL-TIPS.
