No immediate concern was found following a bomb threat and evacuation of Burrell High School on Thursday morning, according to district officials.

A statement from Superintendent Shannon Wagner said there was a message posted on a high school bathroom wall that read, “I am going to bomb this school.”

The building was evacuated at around 10:45 a.m., per district safety procedures, Wagner said.

Lower Burrell police checked the building. Wagner estimated students were outside only about 10 minutes.

Wagner said students returned to the building and classes resumed.

“We take it seriously, we vet it, and we move on with the kids getting the education we’re supposed to provide,” said Wagner.

The district is working with police to continue the investigation. Wagner said she was not aware any new information in the case.

Messages left with Lower Burrell police Chief John Marhefka weren’t immediately returned.
