The cause of a Dec. 13 fatal fire in Tarentum remains unclear, authorities said.
Kasey Reigner, spokesperson for the county’s Department of Emergency Services, said the fire was investigated by the Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s Office and the “origin and cause will remain undetermined.”
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to release the identity of the man killed when fire broke out at 912 Corbet St.
Officials at the medical examiner’s office could not be reached for comment Monday.
Reigner confirmed at the time of the incident that one person was killed in the fire which also severely damaged the duplex.
A GoFundMe established days after the fire identified the victim as a man named Landen who lived with his mother, Paula Clever.
The fundraiser has collected more than $7,400 in about three weeks.
Organizer Andrea Chiusano could not be reached but said in her post that “Paula suffered an unimaginable tragedy. She lost everything in a house fire, including her beloved son, Landen. At this time we are trying to comfort her and support her the best we can.”
The money was to be used for funeral costs and to help Clever relocate, according to the post.
Multiple crews battled the fire, which broke out before midnight. Fire officials said the home was likely a total loss. The Clever family was the home’s only tenant.
