Starting this year, ATV and UTV riders in Gilpin, Bethel and Parks townships will have to do a little less work to prep for riding.
According to a Facebook post Saturday from Gilpin Supervisor Charles Stull, an ATV or UTV permit acquired in Parks, Bethel or Gilpin is now valid in all three municipalities. The municipal agreement streamlines the permit process for riders rather than requiring them to apply to each township.
The permit fee is reduced from $75 to $20 per vehicle, Stull said on the post.
“While one permit is valid across all three townships, operators must follow the specific ATV and UTV regulations of each municipality,” the post read. “Each township enforces its own ordinance, and all rules remain in effect where you are operating.”
In Gilpin, riders must have a valid driver’s license, registration and insurance. Valid permits are to be displayed on the vehicle. Riders must be 18 or older to operate an ATV or UTV, and only designated township-maintained roads are permitted for riding. To obtain a permit, leave a completed application with the township secretary or on-duty officer at the municipal building’s drive-up window, or leave the application and a check for the permit in the drop-box by the window.
