Sales at ATI, one of the Alle-Kiski Valley’s largest employers, exceeded $1 billion for the third quarter in a row, officials announced Thursday.
Aerospace and defense sales in particular are driving strong year-over-year growth, spokeswoman Natalie Gillespie said.
First-quarter results showed that products for aerospace and defense represent 56% of overall sales, which is up from 44% from the same time in 2022.
In the segment that includes Specialty Rolled Products, which operates from the Alle-Kiski Valley, sales are up 6% over the most recent quarter.
“ATI’s continued strong performance across healthy markets is confirmation that we have the right strategy and are executing well,” CEO Bob Wetherbee said. “We’re well-positioned to capture growth in our key markets.”
Highlights of the quarterly report included $1.04 billion in sales during the first quarter of 2023, up 3% over the October-December quarter of 2022.
Wetherbee said the company is maximizing opportunities as the aerospace ramp continues to accelerate.
“We are laser-focused on increasing the efficiency of our operations to meet the historic demand for our materials,” he said.
In the company’s High Performance Materials and Components (HPMC) section, sales of $471.1 million were reported, which is about $25 million over 2022’s fourth quarter.
Gillespie said the increase was driven by growth in the commercial airframe market.
Sales in HPMC were up substantially over the same time last year when the company reported a mark of $341.6 million.
In the Advanced Alloys and Solutions (AA&S) segment, sales reached $567 million, up 15% from $492.5 million for the same period in 2022.
