A new cookbook features recipes from more than 60 Aspinwall area residents and business owners.

“Home to Home: Shared Recipes from Your Aspinwall Neighbors” is described as a culinary journey around Aspinwall.

The book is a fundraiser for the nonprofit Aspinwall Neighbors, a community organization dedicated to bringing people together and promoting the borough.

President Sarah Shaffer said the cookbook concept was formed in January and recipe collection began in March.

The book contains photos and information about the participating families, as well as how to make their favorite dishes.

“We’re really proud of how the book turned out, especially the stories and the profiles of the residents and our neighbors,” Shaffer said. “I have really enjoyed reading all of the contributions. Not just for the food, but to learn more about the people in the neighborhood.”

The recipes include salads, soups, side dishes, main courses and desserts.

“We did a lot to encourage participation and get as many recipes as we could so there is something for everyone in the book,” Shaffer said. “We really wanted to continue the community connections that Aspinwall Neighbors focuses on. There’s great recipes in here, and it’s a great way to learn more about your neighbors.”

Shaffer said she is partial to the recipes of Irish coffee in the dessert section and the overnight caramel rolls in the breakfast/brunch section.

The book is available at Spark Books, 101 Brilliant Ave. in Aspinwall, the retail distributor. Cost is $20.

People canalso order it online through the Spark Books website, however, buyers must go to the store and pick it up.

Presales began in August. The book was first available at Light Up the Wall Dec. 2.

Cookbook committee members included Shaffer, Sona Joyce, Erica Franko, Benjamin Bishop and chair Rachel Misour.
