Arnold police charged a woman with felony counts of endangering the welfare of children after, they said, she drove carelessly with her young children in the vehicle.
Mariah Chanta Gordon, 27, of the 1200 block of Constitution Avenue in New Kensington, faces two felony counts of endangering the welfare of children and three traffic violations.
She was released from custody on a $10,000 unsecured bond. She faces a preliminary hearing before District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr. on June 23, according to court records.
An Arnold officer wrote in Gordon’s arrest papers that he was at the intersection of 14th Street and Horne Boulevard on April 25 when he saw the Chevrolet pickup Gordon was driving run a red light as it turned from Fifth Avenue onto 14th.
The officer followed Gordon and saw her run a stop sign at 14th Street and Constitution while there was a pedestrian in the walkway, the complaint said.
Gordon is accused of speeding up as the officer followed and making a quick turn into her driveway, hitting a parked utility trailer.
Gordon told the officer she didn’t think a driver could be pulled over in their own driveway, the complaint said.
The officer said Gordon’s children, age 3 months and 4 years old, were in the back seat but only the baby was in a car seat, the complaint said.
