Utility outages caused by Tuesday’s powerful storms are slowing being resolved.

About3,000 homes are still without power, according to Allegheny Power and Duquesne Light websites, but that’s down from more than 4,500 in the early morning hours.

Allegheny Power reported about 100 regional customers without power, down from 1,700. Most of the outages appear to be in Westmoreland County, with about 75 homes affected in the Greensburg area. Troubles in Allegheny and Armstrong are nearly resolved, with all but a handful of homes left without service.

Duquesne Light reported nearly 2,400 customers without utility service, with the majority near Monroeville and Jefferson. There are about 40 homes in Shaler impacted as well.

Strong storms rolled through the region just after 4 a.m. and the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh expired its severe thunderstorm warning just before 5 a.m.

A slight chance of showers remain throughout the day.

Temperatures are expected to climb near 87 degrees.

The severe storms caused flooding on some local roads.

Shaler police blocked a portion of Seavey Road for flooding at about 4:30 a.m. and it remained closed at 9:30 a.m.

The road is closed between Elbe Drive and Soose Road.
