An Ingram man was arrested Wednesday after he intentionally struck his friend with an SUV after they argued the night before outside a Castle Shannon bar, police said.
Shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday, Castle Shannon police were dispatched to the Coal Mine, a bar and restaurant at 3160 Library Road, for a report of an injured pedestrian, according to a complaint in the case.
The victim, Mack McGuffey, 48, suffered “a significant compound fracture” in his right foot, the complaint said. Medics took him to UPMC Mercy hospital in stable condition.
One of the Coal Mine’s two exterior cameras captured footage of an SUV chasing McGuffey into a throughway that connects the establishment’s parking areas, the complaint said. A man nearby also filmed the encounter on his cellphone.
McGuffey said he was in the SUV with Stewart T. Walker, 49.
McGuffey and Walker argued after Walker “began preaching religion,” his friend said. As they argued, police said McGuffey left the SUV and Walker intentionally hit him as he tried to flee on foot.
County police, which assisted in the investigation, charged Walker on Wednesday with aggravated assault, aggravated assault by vehicle, accident involving death or personal injury, recklessly endangering another person and six moving violations, including careless driving and reckless driving.
On Wednesday afternoon, he was awaiting a preliminary hearing. His attorney wasn’t listed in the court record.
