No injuries were reported when a tractor-trailer truck was struck by a train Friday at a crossing on Route 68 in Industry, Beaver County.

The mishap occurred shortly before noon.

Beaver police Chief Dan Madgar, whose department patrols Industry, said the trailer-trailer driver was crossing the tracks when the railroad crossing arms activated but was in traffic and was unable to pull forward or back up. The driver was not hurt.

The chief said the big rig was hauling steel pellets, which spilled onto the train tracks and had to be cleaned up.

Madgar said the investigation was turned over to Norfolk Southern railroad.

According to a statement from the railroad, the train was heading east, from Mingo Junction, Ohio, to Oak Island, N.J.

The train crew was not injured, either.

Norfolk Southern said the railroad crossing was equipped with gates and flashing signals.

Tribune-Review news partner WPXI had a helicopter above the scene.
