Police seek teens who escaped Adelphoi Village in Derry

Pennsylvania State Police at Kiski Valley are searching for three males who escaped Sunday afternoon from an Adelphoi Village house in Derry Township.

The three males — ages 16, 17 and 18 — walked away from the Adelphoi Raphael House at 1114 Main St., around 2:45 p.m., police said.

The escapees were wearing black sweat pants and black sweatshirts when they left the house.

Adelphoi Village started in 1971 as a group home for troubled boys. It provides services to more than 2,500 abused, neglected, delinquent and other at-risk youths and their families from a 30-county area.

Anyone with information about the escapees are asked to contact the state police at Kiski Valley at 724-697-5780.

Grease fire hits North Huntingdon McDonald’s

A grease fire early Monday morning at the McDonald’s along Route 30 in North Huntingdon forced the evacuation of the building, a Westmoreland County Public Safety supervisor said.

The fire, reported at 5:20 a.m., was extinguished by the restaurant’s fire-suppressant system. No injuries were reported at the restaurant at 9061 Route 30, which also houses the Big Mac Museum.

The Adamsburg, Strawpump and Westmoreland City fire departments responded to the scene and were checking the building to determine the extent of any damage.

Additional details were not available.
