Man surrenders following SWAT situation in Upper Hill
A man surrendered to Pittsburgh police around 5:30 a.m. Monday after a SWAT incident that lasted nearly an hour in the city’s Upper Hill neighborhood.
Police responded around 4:45 a.m. to a home in the 500 block of Blessing Street for reports of a man threatening a family member. His family reported he was off his medications and behaving erratically. The suspect also had five active arrest warrants.
Officers said after they arrived he refused to exit the residence, and SWAT was able to quickly establish communications with him.
He was taken to UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital after the incident.
At least 4 injured in Fayette County crash
Three medical helicopters responded to a crash Sunday afternoon in Fayette County. At least 4 people were injured in the incident, according to Fayette County dispatchers.
The crash between a vehicle and an ATV happened around 3:30 p.m. on New Salem Road just west of Uniontown, dispatchers said.
One vehicle remained on the road while the other went over a hill, according to TribLIVE news partner WTAE.
A WTAE photojournalist on the scene saw a truck and an off-the-road vehicle being towed from the scene.
