Man injured in Homewood shooting
A man was injured Wednesday night in a shooting in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood.
Pittsburgh police and EMS were dispatched to the 7200 block of Frankstown Avenue for an eight-round ShotSpotter alert around 11 p.m.
They found a 53-year-old man, who officials have not identified, with a gunshot wound to his leg. The man was conscious, alert and talking with officers and medics. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition, public safety officials said.
The front door of a nearby convenience store was damaged by the gunfire, officials said.
The Mobile Crime Unit processed evidence, including numerous shell casings, at the scene. They also will review all available video footage.
The investigation is ongoing.
Police investigate home invasion, stolen car in Knoxville
Pittsburgh police are investigating after they say a group of men forced their way into a house and stole cash, a gun and a car.
Police responded around 12:30 a.m. Thursday to the 100 block of Orchard Place in Pittsburgh’s Knoxville neighborhood for a reported home invasion.
A man and a woman were inside the home when a group of three to five men forced entry into the house, public safety officials said. One of them was carrying a rifle, and two others had handguns, officials said.
The man in the house was pistol-whipped. Medics evaluated him on-scene. The woman sustained superficial facial injuries but declined medical care.
The thieves stole $200 in cash, a handgun and car keys from the pair. They then stole the car to flee to the scene, police said.
Officials said the stolen vehicle was a blue Honda Accord. It was recovered a short time later in Arnold. The actors had fled by the time officers arrived, officials said.
Police are investigating.
