Wilkinsburg shooting sends 1 to hospital
A man was taken to an area hospital Tuesday evening in critical condition following a shooting in Wilkinsburg.
Officials didn’t release the name of the 34-year-old man, who was shot in the back.
The shooting in the 800 block of Rebecca Avenue was reported to Allegheny County 911 just before 11:30 p.m.
According to investigating Allegheny County Police detectives, the man and a companion were walking along the street when an unknown suspect began shooting at them.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the county police tip line 1-833-255-8477 (ALL-TIPS).
Heat chases Stage AE concerts indoors
Shows scheduled this week at Pittsburgh’s Stage AE will be held indoors because of weather warnings of excessive heat.
The shows at the North Shore venue include Brothers Osborne at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Walker Hayes at 6 p.m. Friday and The Clarks at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Temperatures in the mid-90s have been forecast for much of the remainder of the week, with humid conditions potentially pushing heat index values as high as 110 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Beaver County manufacturer to add 80 jobs
Versatex, a company that produces siding and other building products, is planning to expand its operation in Beaver County.
Founded in 2004, the company plans to build a new 96,500-square-foot facility at the Aliquippa Industrial Park in Beaver County. Versatex said it will invest $40 million in the building and in new production capacity.
The expansion is expected to double production capacity and create 80 new jobs, adding to the firm’s 180 employees in Aliquippa. It also employs more than 400 in Scranton.
Versatex officials joined Gov. Josh Shapiro in announcing the company’s plans on Tuesday.
Electric scooters banned at Shaler parks
Shaler officials have announced that motorized electric scooters are now banned at all township parks.
According to township police, the decision came following many complaints about juveniles who were using the scooters at Kiwanis Park and on local roads. Police noted state law prohibits use of the scooters on public roads.
Police said they will be increasing patrols at parks. They said littering and disorderly conduct by unsupervised juveniles have been problems there.
