Former Washington Co. youth soccer coach pleads guilty to sending explicit photos to minor

A Washington County youth soccer coach pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to charges of transfer of obscene material to a minor, according to U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady.

Timothy Cribbins, 46, of California used Snapchat twice to send explicit photos to a female under the age of 16 in December 2018 while he was a youth soccer coach in the area.

Cribbins pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Donetta W. Ambrose, who scheduled sentencing for Oct. 15.

Cribbins remains free on bond pending the sentencing.

In 2018, the charges were broughtby Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative started in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Cribbins was prosecuted as a result of an investigation conducted by the FBI.

According to federal sentencing guidelines, the sentence is both based on seriousness of crime and past offenses. Cribbins could be sentenced to a maximum of 10 years in prison, have to pay a $250,000 fine or both.
