1 killed in Washington County wreck

One motorist was killed in a crash Thursday afternoon in Washington County.

Derek Hartzog, 32, of Washington, died following the wreck in South Franklin Township, Washington County Coroner Tim Warco reported. The cause of death is pending autopsy results.

Hartzog was driving a northbound vehicle that left the road and struck a tree near 1750 S. Bridge Road, according to Warco.

Hartzog was not wearing a seat belt, Warco said.

State police are investigating the crash that occurred at about 2:30 p.m.
