A Port Authority of Allegheny County bus driver was taken to UPMC McKeesport on Tuesday afternoon after being involved in a crash at the city’s Pacific and Rebecca streets, the transit agency said.
Port Authority spokesman Adam Brandolph said a car ran a stop sign at the intersection and struck a 61c bus just before 12:30 p.m.
Brandolph said the bus driver, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital after complaining of neck pain, but the unidentified driver of the car was not hurt. There were no passengers on the bus, which was out of service when the crash occurred. Initially, the agency reported that four passengers had been on board.
The left front of the car reportedly struck the left side of the bus behind the front wheel.
The accident scene was cleared at 1:25 p.m. Brandolph said Port Authority police were investigating.
McKeesport police could not be reached.
The 61c operates between McKeesport, Duquesne, the Kennywood amusement park in West Mifflin, Homestead and the Pittsburgh neighborhoods of Greenfield, Squirrel Hill, Oakland and Downtown.
