A woman faces felony charges after Pittsburgh police said she tried to break into a home in Larimer on Monday before attempting to set a car on fire.
Chifawn Jackson, 34, of Pittsburgh, was charged with felony counts of attempted arson, trespass and burglary as well as criminal mischief.
Jackson was released from custody after a $10,000 bond was posted by a Pittsburgh bail agency, according to court records. She faces a May 12 preliminary hearing on the charges.
Police said they were dispatched to home in the 400 block of Larimer Avenue shortly after 11 a.m. on Monday for a report of a woman who tried to break into a home and then tried to set fire to a car that was parked behind the residence, according to investigators.
The woman fled the scene in a white Buick, but a witness was able to use a cellphone camera to photograph the license plate, police said.
About a half our later, an officer from the Zone 5 station spotted the vehicle at Hamilton Avenue and Nadir Way and initiated a traffic stop.
The resident of the home that Jackson is accused of trying to enter as well as the witness were transported to the scene of the traffic stop and positively identified Jackson, police said.
