A portion of the Liberty Bridge was shut down for a short time early Friday morning after a police chase, officials said.

A vehicle involved in a shooting in Dormont led police on the chase that resulted in a crash on the ramp leading from the bridge to Boulevard of the Allies, public safety officials confirmed. It was reopened just before 6:15 a.m.

An Allegheny County 911 dispatcher said it appeared that multiple people were transported from the scene with injuries, but the extent of their injuries was unknown.

Tribune-Review news partner WPXI reported there also had been police activity on Broadway Avenue in Dormont just before 4:30 a.m.

Dormont police are investigating.
