A man has died after being shot in the face Sunday evening in Pittsburgh’s Hill District.

Public Safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz said officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of Bedford Avenue shortly before 6:20 p.m. for reports of a man with a gunshot wound.

Officers found the victim, who was in his 40s, inside an apartment at the rear of a multi-unit structure, Cruz said.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office identified the victim as Paul J. Sakal, 43, of Pittsburgh.

One man was taken for questioning. No further information about possible suspects was released.

Anyone with information about the shooting should contact Pittsburgh Police at 412-323-7800.
