A man died after being shot Friday afternoon in McKeesport.

Officers were dispatched around 5:15 p.m. to the 2000 block of Jenny Lind Street for the shooting.

The victim was not immediately identified.

Allegheny County Police said first responders found a man dead who had been shot in his body and head.

Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation.

No information about possible suspects was released.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the County Police Tip Line 833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.

The deadly shooting comes less than two weeks after a McKeesport police officer was fatally shot and another city officer was injured.

Officer Sean Sluganski, 32, of McKeesport was laid to rest Tuesday. He was killed in the line of duty while responding to a domestic incident and mental health call Feb. 6.

His partner, Chuck Thomas Jr., continues to recover from his injuries.

Charges against the suspect, Johnathan Morris, 31, of McKeesport were held for court at a preliminary hearing Friday.
