Police have released the name of the man who arrested Friday in connection with a violent domestic incident in Pittsburgh’s Shadyside neighborhood after, police say, he fired shots at a woman, her dog and an employee of a nearby business who had confronted him.
Allegheny County Police filed several charges against Lamar Reddick, 38, of Pittsburgh, including attempted homicide, aggravated cruelty to animals and aggravated assault. He had yet to be arraigned as of late Saturday morning, according to court records.
Police fired back as Reddick fled, but no one was hit by gunfire and he was arrested soon afterward, according to Allegheny County Police.
The incident took place around 4:10 p.m. along the 4700 block of Centre Avenue.
County police said officers encountered a man, later identified as Reddick, outside of an apartment building threatening a woman and her dog with a gun.
Police said Reddick was ordered to drop the weapon, but instead, he fired multiple shots at the woman and the animal, critically injuring the dog.
Officers returned fire as Reddick attempted to flee, and he was apprehended moments later.
Police said they learned prior to arrival that Reddick was confronted by an employee of a nearby business and had fired a shot toward that worker.
No people were reported to have been hit by the gunfire. The woman suffered facial injuries during the assault and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
