Light-rail cars for Pittsburgh Regional Transit were suspended for about an hour Monday because of a server issue.

Service has resumed, but light-rail riders should expect delays at least through noon Monday, said Pittsburgh Regional Transit spokesperson Adam Brandolph.

“We will have some residual delays for the next hour, but all should be fine by noon,” said Brandolph.

Between 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Monday, all light-rail service was suspended, which includes two light rail lines that stretch from Allegheny County’s South Hills through Downtown Pittsburgh and onto the city’s North Shore.

Brandolph said a server error at PRT’s rail facility in the South Hills shutdown service, and the protocol for such an error is to return all rail cars to the rail yard in Upper St. Clair.

He said there were no mechanical issues with the trains, and the server issue was resolved at 10:30 a.m., which is when trains started to hit the tracks again and return to Downtown.

Brandolph said there are currently no light-rail cars, known as T cars, in Downtown currently, but riders can expect the cars to return by about 11:30 a.m.
