The Oct. 3 incident in South Park involving a disheveled 12-year-old girl was a ruse by the girl to avoid punishment, Allegheny County police said.
The girl was not attacked, police said.
South Park police initially responded to the call at about 8:30 p.m. to Evans Park where the girl was found. She couldn’t answer how she got to the park or answer questions about her condition.
She was evaluated at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and was released in good condition to her parents.
Allegheny County police started an investigation into what happened, and they learned the girl fabricated a story to avoid punishment in another matter, police said.
Because the case involves a juvenile, police said they would provided no further details and said the case is closed.
