A teenager shot in the torso in Pittsburgh’s Northview Heights neighborhood Friday afternoon was listed in serious condition.

Police responded to a home on the 500 block of Mount Pleasant Road around 4:25 p.m. for reports that a male had been shot.

There they found the boy in an upstairs bedroom. Officers provided aid on scene by using homostatic dressing, which is used to control hemorrhaging when the source of bleeding cannot be immediately identified or controlled. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

A city Public Safety spokesman said detectives interviewed witnesses in the home at the time of the shooting.

Police continue to investigate.
