Route 51 will be reduced to a single-lane in each direction this weekend.

Paving operations begin at 8 p.m. Friday and continue through 11 a.m. Sunday morning between Warrington Avenue and Woodruff Street.

The roadway will reopen to unrestricted traffic in the inbound direction at least two hours before the 3:30 p.m. Saturday start of the Pitt football game. In addition, work will be stopped in the outbound direction and traffic will be restricted until two hours after the end of the game.

PennDOT is urging motorists to use caution when traveling through the work zone as they may be driving on a milled surface and encounter a deviation between the lanes.

Intermittent short-term traffic stoppages may occur, PennDOT said in a statement.
