More than a dozen jobs are being cut at Pittsburgh International Airport, officials confirmed Thursday.
“While we do not take decisions that impact jobs lightly, the aviation industry and nature of our work at Pittsburgh International Airport has changed over the past several years,” said Allegheny County Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis. “Creating a more cross-functional and agile team allows us to become more efficient, better serve our customers and continue to support the growth of our region.”
The cuts are being made after a review of Allegheny County Airport Authority needs and an evaluation of job roles and responsibilities at the airport.
The 16 positions are managerial, office staff and operations and maintenance workers and the cuts are effective June 26.
The employees who were cut were given three weeks’ notice and a severance package.
The authority employed 485 people, according to its 2019 budget.
