A Penn Hills council meeting originally scheduled for June 15 has been canceled.

Mayor Pauline Calabrese said canceling meetings during the summer months is common, when agendas are light and there are no ordinances up for a vote.

“There’s just not a lot of issues and items,” she said. “And with (covid-19), everything’s been running slowly.”

She said council had discussed having the June 15 meeting in person before canceling it. The last time council met in person for a meeting was Feb. 17. The meeting in March was canceled and council meetings in April and May have been held virtually.

Calabrese said she hopes Council Chambers can be used for the July 20 meeting.

“We’re figuring out the logistics of how to keep people distanced and what to do for overflow,” she said. “I hope by then [July 20] we have all the kinks worked out.”
