A pedestrian was struck and killed early Tuesday by a tri-axle truck along the Tri-Boro Expressway in Wilmerding, Allegheny County Police said.

At 5:04 a.m., Pitcairn police were dispatched to the eastbound expressway near Maple Street for a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

Police said the victim, Jerome Prysock, 65, of Duquesne, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver remained at the scene, police said.

The county’s Homicide Unit and Collision Reconstruction Unit was called to the scene.

The incident shut down a portion of the Tri-Boro Expressway in both directions from Turtle Creek at Monroeville Road and Wilmerding at Wilmerding off-ramp.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call the County Police Tip Line 1-833-ALL-TIPS (255-8477). Callers can remain anonymous.
