A Wilkinsburg man was arrested Thursday for allegedly firing gunshots at a vehicle near a Target store Tuesday night in Pittsburgh’s North Hills, according to Ross Township police.
The suspect, Kenneth Sharp-Haymon, 21, allegedly was involved in the shooting that occurred around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday near the Target store along McKnight Road, Ross police said Wednesday in a Facebook post.
People involved in the incident met near the store and a confrontation occurred, apparently over past romantic relationships. One of the five people inside the car was the suspect’s former girlfriend, police said.
Those inside the car were able to positively identify the shooter as Sharp-Haymon, Ross police said.
Police officers spotted six bullet holes in the side of a vehicle and 11 spent .45-caliber shells were found at the scene.
While none were hit by gunfire, police said one person was injured from glass when the car window was shot, police said.
Sharp-Haymon faces five separate charges of criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person, as well as illegal possession of a firearm and drug possession charges.
Detectives with the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office had been working with Ross Township detectives for the last 48 hours in an effort to locate Sharp-Haymon and were able to do so after obtaining information “concerning a vehicle associated with the suspect,” sheriff’s office spokesperson Mike Manko said.
He said that vehicle was located late Thursday afternoon.
“Deputies followed the vehicle before initiating a traffic stop on First Avenue downtown (Pittsburgh) at which point Sharp-Haymon was arrested without incident,” Manko said.
Sharp-Haymon was then transported to the Ross Township police station. He’s expected to be taken to the Allegheny County jail sometime Thursday evening, according to Manko.
