Marine Capt. Mollie B. Geyer, an All-Marine Athlete, participated in the 48th Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 29.
Geyer, 33, who is currently stationed at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., with I Marine Expeditionary Force, crossed the finish line with a time of 03:05:48.
The 2012 Naval Academy alumna is one of 10 Marines who will make up the 2023 All-Marine Marathon Team.
“This is my first ever marathon, and it is so much harder than I even imagined,” Geyer said. “The support out there on the course really got me through it. All the cheering, the streets lined with supporters really helped me.”
Geyer, a 2008-graduate of North Hills High School, commissioned in the Marine Corps on May 29, 2012. This MCM marked her first full marathon.
“The Marine Corps Marathon is a direct representation of the challenges we face as people,” said Sgt. Maj. Carlos Ruiz, the Sgt. Maj. Of the Marine Corps. “When we, Marines, are faced with the challenges that come with being a Marine, we draw from our soul, our physical strength and mental stamina to fight and win.”
Approximately 30,000 runners from around the world took part.
