Anglers enjoy a previous year’s Ross Township Fishing Tournament at Evergreen Park.

Register for fishing tourney

Registration for the 2024 Ross Township Fishing Tournament begins at 6 p.m. April 26.

The event, sponsored by the township police and parks and recreation departments, is scheduled for July 13 and 14 at Evergreen Community Park, 3430 Evergreen Road. Thanks to police, there is no charge. Featured are refreshments, bait, prizes and trophies.

Saturday’s festivities are for participants ages 5 to 17, and on Sunday, adults, seniors and people with special needs. Anglers 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Block Northway Farmers Market

The Block Northway Farmers Market announces a change in its weekly events schedule, with hours now from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursdays. The market starts May 2 and runs through Sept. 26.

In addition to vendors, the market in Ross will feature weekly entertainment and rotating lineup of food trucks. theblocknorthway.com/farmers-market.

West View Cleanup Day

West View’s annual Community Spring Cleanup Day will be held from 9 a.m. to noon April 27.

Volunteers will meet at 9 in the rear parking lot of West View VFW Post 2754, 386 Perry Highway. Gloves, bags and safety vests will be provided, and a pizza lunch follows the cleanup.

HUB Sonnet Slam

The West View HUB, 435 Perry Highway, will host a Sonnet Slam from 7 to 8 p.m. April 27 to celebrate National Poetry Month and William Shakespeare’s birthday.

The event will be presented by the Steel City Shakespeare Center Youth Academy and the HUB. Create your own sonnet, haiku or any kind of poem, or recite an existing poem.

In addition, the HUB is presenting a Mother’s Day Tea from 2 to 4 p.m. May 4. The event is free for school-aged children in kindergarten and older, plus their grownups.

Eden Christian Academy musical

Students of Eden Christian Academy will perform “The Little Mermaid” at 7 p.m. April 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27 at Christ Church at Grove Farm, 249 Duff Road, Ohio Township.

Drama Club Showcase

The North Hills High School Drama Club Showcase is scheduled for 7 p.m. April 26 in the school auditorium, 53 Rochester Road, Ross.

The annual event includes an International Thespian Society induction and senior recognition.
