Police: Man who shot at mail carrier shot others on McKnight Road

Police have connected a man who they say shot at a mail carrier in Pittsburgh earlier this month with a shooting that injured two people and damaged several vehicles along McKnight Road later the same day.

Martinel Humphries, 28, of West View is in Allegheny County Jail accused of shooting at a mail carrier in Pittsburgh’s Perry North neighborhood on Jan. 5.

Police have now also charged Humphries with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and firearms violations in connection with the McKnight Road shooting.

According to a criminal complaint, Ross police responded to a report of a man shot along McKnight Road. Police found Dennae Foster suffering a gunshot wound to his back. He and a female friend who had been with him when the shots were fired told police they saw the shooter positioned on a hill, behind the Exxon station on Nelson Run Road.

Foster and his friend fled in their vehicles, which were damaged, and were able to offer descriptions of the shooter to police.

Officials later identified several other witnesses whose vehicles were damaged by gunfire. Police say they found shell casings and surveillance footage.
