K9 retires in North Versailles

North Versailles Police K9 Laky worked his last shift Saturday, retiring to live a life “eating carrots and licking the yogurt container,” according to the township’s Facebook.

Laky has been on the job since 2014, beginning training in McKeesport alongside his brother, McKeesport Police K9 Ryco.

Laky served North Versailles and neighboring communities for nine years.

“Whether it was locating fugitives, protecting officers or finding narcotics, Laky was eager to work and play,” according to the social media post. “K9 Laky absolutely loved showing off his skills to children and enjoyed those moments the most, always pausing for a belly rub or pat on the head.”

Overnight police chase ends in arrest

A person was arrested after a police chase overnight through Connellsville, according to Tribune-Review news partner WPXI.

State police were involved in a pursuit they said began at about 2:40 a.m. near the Sheetz at Crawford Avenue and Route 119.

The chase ended at Route 201 and Lenkey Road in Dunbar Township.

An ambulance was called to the scene but there were no details on any injuries.

Lane restriction along Washington Boulevard

Motorists who travel along Washington Boulevard in Pittsburgh could be in for traffic backups for the next 10 months.

Beginning today, southbound lane restrictions are scheduled to take place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

Work could last through the remainder of the year.

Crews from Pittsburgh Water and Sewage Authority will conduct utility work on the City of Pittsburgh’s property. They will use the lane for staging trucks and equipment.
