1 injured in crash in South Park

One person was taken to the hospital Monday night after a crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle in South Park Township, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.

The Broughton Volunteer Fire Department responded to the crash along Brownsville Road and Corrigan Drive.

The identity and condition of the injured person has not been released.

Allegheny County police are investigating.


Rock slide blocks road in Bridgeville

A large chunk of rock slid into the roadway early Tuesday morning, forcing a road closure in Bridgeville.

Bridgeville police alerted motorists in a Facebook post around 6 a.m. about the closure at Bower Hill Road between McLaughlin Run and the intersection of Union Street.

For a while, traffic was redirected around the area on Baldwin Street.

By 7:30 a.m., Bridgeville police reported the road was reopened to traffic.


Motorcyclist hospitalized in apparent hit-and-run crash

A motorcyclist is in the hospital after an apparent hit-and-run-crash Monday afternoon on Route 837 near Grant Avenue in Duquesne, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.

The condition of the motorcyclist was not released.

No additional information was made available.


Police continue South Side patrols

Pittsburgh police released the latest numbers Monday from a recent four-day (Feb. 29-March 3) patrol along East Carson Street in the city’s South Side neighborhood.

The Pittsburgh South Side Entertainment Patrol resulted in 16 traffic stops, eight traffic citations, 35 parking citations, seven tows, 19 non-traffic citations, two arrests and the recovery of one firearm.

The bulk of the nontraffic citations were issued for public intoxication, public urination, open alcohol containers and smoking marijuana in public.

Other arrests made were for driving while suspended, firearms possession, possession of marijuana and careless driving.

The patrol team consists of 10 Pittsburgh police officers patrolling overnight Thursdays through Sundays and debuted last July.


Tactical training excercises planned in O’Hara

The North Hills Special Response Team will conduct training exercises from 2-10 p.m. Thursday at Camp Guyasuta, Allegheny County.

The training will use Oakhurst and West Marshall drives as access points into the camp, according to a release issued by O’Hara Township.

Residents can expect to see members of the North Hills SRT dressed in full tactical equipment. There also will be drone activity.

Flashlights will be used during the nighttime training in the woods.
