Benefit car wash

A benefit car wash will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 27 at Advance Auto Parts, 3801 William Penn Highway, Monroeville.

All proceeds will go to the families of the Rustic Ridge victims in Plum.

Quilting for ‘Newbees’

A new 10-month “Newbees” quilting class is sponsored by Quilt Company East Quilting Guild.

Beginning Sept. 9, class is held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the second Saturday of each month, September through June, at Monroeville Public Library in the lower level conference room past the children’s department.

Participants must sign up in advance. Space is limited. Class is free to members of Quilt Company East and $20 for nonmembers.

Prerequisites for the class include a sewing machine in good working order that you can bring to class, purchase of a specific quilt pattern and fabric, and having basic quilting tools to use. Details will be announced in class.

Monroeville Jazz Festival

The 20th-anniversary celebration of the Monroeville Jazz Festival will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. Sept. 2 at the Tall Trees Amphitheatre in Monroeville Community Park West.

There is no fee to attend, and guests are reminded to bring blankets and chairs.

International Women’s Club

The International Women’s Club is set to begin its 2023-24 year with a gathering at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 8 at Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, 2310 Haymaker Road.

The agenda includes a brief presentation on Cuba by Sharon Battle, a local travel agent and club member.

The club welcomes women from diverse backgrounds who share an interest in enjoying a pleasant morning of camaraderie and engaging activities.

Academy accepting students

Divine Mercy Academy in Monroeville is accepting students in all grades from preschool age 3 through eighth grade.

Hillcrest yard sale

A yard sale featuring baked goods and crafts is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 23 at Hillcrest United Presbyterian Church, 1622 James St., Monroeville.

Food pantry distributions

The Garden City Food Pantry distributes food on the second Thursday of each month, with morning distribution from 9 to 11 and evening distribution from 6 to 7.

Upcoming distributions are Sept. 14, Oct. 12, Nov. 9 and Dec. 14 at 500 Laurel Drive, Monroeville.
