Hampton council on Dec. 15 passed a budget that will enact no increase to taxes in 2022.
“Overall revenues are projected to increase by $1,163,000 to $15,902,000,” said Finance Director Rob Omecene via email, with most of the revenue increase coming from the covid Relief Funds.
Expenses for the township are also expected to increase by $1,163,000 to a total of $15,902,000. Most of these expenses can be attributed to transfers to the Capital Improvement Fund for “various projects in relation to the covid relief funds,” said Omecene. These projects include various road projects, the Clearview Road Bridge replacement, Phase 2 of the Community Park Trail, and replacement of Community Park restrooms.
The 2022 budget is balanced with a surplus of just under $100. A balanced budget means no need for a tax increase for residents. The millage rate will remain 2.9241.
“Township staff, (Controller) Mr. Speakman and I are pleased to again present a general operations budget that has no real estate property tax increase,” said Township Manager Chris Lochner.
In addition to the budget talks, council OK’d an increase in service increments for eligible police officers and resolutions to update the terms and conditions of employment for the township manager and chief of police.
The next meeting of the township council will be the council’s yearly reorganization meeting, to be held on Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Hampton Community Center.
