Greensburg Salem School District postponed its already-delayed graduation ceremony for another three weeks, and is planning a drive-in ceremony that will allow attendees to watch from their cars.

Graduation will be held 6:45 p.m. July 9 in a parking lot at Westmoreland County Community College.

The district is looking into ways to livestream the event for those who can’t attend in person, according to Superintendent Gary Peiffer.

The district and the city are collaborating on a senior parade down main street on May 28.

A senior ceremony that was scheduled to replace prom is cancelled. It was scheduled for June 18 at Rizzo’s Malabar Inn, but dine-in restaurants are not expected to reopen by then.

The district is looking for new ways to honor its graduating seniors, including the parade, Peiffer said. A virtual senior ceremony will be held on an unspecified date in June.
