A former Pittsburgh resident was formally indicted on drug charges stemming from a 2018 kidnapping case, according to federal prosecutors.
A federal grand jury handed down a seven-count indictment against Kevin Harris, 37, formerly of Pittsburgh, according to U.S. Attorney Scott Brady’s office.
According to the indictment, Harris allegedly conspired to possess with the intent to distribute marijuana from September 2017 to September 2018.
The charges in the indictment also include extortion, robbery, brandishing a firearm and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence and/or a drug trafficking crime, according to prosecutors.
In March 2019, federal authorities accused Harris of attempting to extort an undercover FBI Task Force officer.
Harris’ charges stem from an attempted to kidnapping of a victim in Monroeville over a drug debt.
The FBI — Western District of Pennsylvania Opioid Task Force conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
