Authorities on Tuesday afternoon reopened a section of Interstate 79 in Kennedy that closed after a multiple-vehicle crash in the morning.

The crash involving a tractor-trailer, dump truck and van happened around 9 a.m. at the Crafton/Route 60 exit. The tractor-trailer overturned and the dump truck ended up through a guardrail.

All southbound lanes were closed between Exit 60B (PA 60 North) and Exit 59B (I-376 West/Airport) for about six hours. They reopened around 3 p.m., officials said.

Motorists were being detoured around the area of the crash.

Two people were taken to hospitals after the crash, authorities said. The nature and severity of their injuries was not immediately known.
