Man dies after being struck while loading truck in South Fayette

A man who was injured Saturday afternoon while trying to load a flatbed trailer in South Fayette has died, according to authorities.

He was in critical condition when he was taken to a hospital, according to Allegheny County Police. The man, identified as Lewis Alling, 59, of Hickory, died at the hospital at about 3:30 p.m., the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office reported.

County police reported that the flatbed trailer was being hauled by a tractor-trailer rig on Stonegate Drive around 1 p.m.

Police said the man was loading the flatbed trailer when the truck tractor moved backward, striking him.
