Mary Ann Cupples-Wisniowski was named president, and Tim Downey was named vice president of the Collier Board of Commissioners.
District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet administered the oath of office to incumbent Cupples-Wisniowski, newly elected commissioners Downey and Julie Murphy, and township tax collector Corrine Durisko on Jan. 5.
Cupples-Wisniowski, Downey and Murphy will join Dawnlee Vaughn and Gabriel Benvenuti on the board of commissioners.
Cupples-Wisniowski said she was grateful that her fellow commissioners elected her as president and for their confidence in her leadership.
“My priorities include promoting responsible development, completing the ballfield project, maintaining transparency with our residents, and advancing the consolidation of our fire departments and the hiring of a fire chief to oversee fire and EMS services,” Cupples-Wisniowski said.
“While I regret the need to raise property taxes last year, rising costs and critical township needs made it necessary to ensure Collier remains a great place to live, work and play.”
Downey thanked the community mebers for their support and efforts in trusting him “to grow and preserve our treasured community.”
“I am looking forward (to) working with our new board of commissioners toward accomplishing many goals to further enhance the well-being of Collier Township,” he said.
Said Murphy: “In the months ahead, we will work collaboratively to set clear strategies, define focused priorities and implement a time‑bound action plan.
“Our goal is to ensure that every decision is deliberate, transparent and firmly aligned with the needs and values of our Collier residents,” Murphy said.
